AMUR BUSUIOC was born in 1951 in Timisoara, Romania.  He graduated from the Bucharest Institute of Architecture in 1977 with a Master Degree in Architecture and Urban Design and worked for the next thirteen years in Romania, becoming part of a team of architects selected to design the grandiose presidential palace for Ceausescu, the communist dictator.

In 1990, disappointed by the failure of the so called anti-communist revolution in Romania, he left the country and came to the US where he was soon admitted as a permanent resident based on his prodigious career.  After only a few years in the US, he started his own furniture design company and was simultaneously hired by the renowned New York architectural firm Nicholas William Bodouva & Associates for airport design.

By 1998 he was a senior designer with the company, responsible for most of the architectural and interior design for the new terminal at the Baltimore Washington International Airport and the Terminal One at JFK International Airport.

At the 2000 Contemporary International Furniture Fair he introduced with success a new stainless steel line of furniture made out of a special grating never used before for furniture.

In September, 2002, he opened a gallery in SoHo, New York, in partnership with his friend the well-known Romanian glass artist, Ioan Nemtoi, to represent both designers.
